The Ridges Sanctuary is the oldest nonprofit nature preserve in Wisconsin, first formed in 1937. The 1200 acre site features trails and bridges leading visitors through the park and offering them the opportunity to explore the many native wildflowers growing along the path for a nominal fee. It is open to the public year round and hosts tours, lectures and special events.

This is Wisconsin's only officially designated wilderness park. It features 30 miles (48 km) of hiking trails, 12.5 miles (20 km) of groomed cross-country ski trails, a nature centre, 11 miles (17 km) of Lake Michigan shoreline and 16 backpack only campsites.

This state park was established to protect the unique dune geology of the Lake Michigan shoreline. Visitors can learn about the dune formation, geological history and settlement of the area at the nature center. Picnic areas, walking trails and nearly 3 miles (4.8 km) of sandy shoreline provide an opportunity for families and groups to relax and enjoy the sunshine.

Hiking, mountain biking, skiing and snowmobiling trails can all be found in this 1225 acre state park. There are two campgrounds consisting of 123 camp sites, 25 of which have electricity. Water activities on the bay include canoeing, kayaking and scuba diving, but the rocky shoreline provides no beach.

Nearly 100 years old, this state park lies on a 3776 acre property on the shores of Lake Michigan. Forest, meadow and wetland areas offer visitors places for hiking, biking, having a picnic or camping for the night. Swimming, boating and fishing are popular activities on the lake and the nearby nature center gives visitors a chance to learn about the local wildlife.
